FINALLY GETTING BACK TO BLOGGING

It’s been a long while since I’ve blogged and it’s good to get back to it.

I’m excited to share with you guys that I have some artwork hanging in Absolute Best Comic Store. One of the pieces I have on display is a Boba Fett poster hanging in the Star Wars themed room. Another piece is a Harry Potter Poster hanging in the Harry Potter themed room. It’s awesome that they have local artist artwork displayed throughout the store.

When you enter the store it has a cool pop culture/thrift store vibe to it. Different areas of the store are themed from Aliens, Universal Monsters, Lego, Star Wars, 80’s Movies, Mario Bros, Disney and comic books. They carry a wide arrangement of toys, statues, books, clothing, trading cards, comics, movies, music, funkos, anime, video games, collectibles and tabletop games. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. If your ever in the area be sure to check out their main store and their gaming store a few doors down.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween!

However you’re celebrating, I hope you have a great time! have fun and stay safe 🎃💀👻

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE

In honor of Prince’s birthday, I decided to create this Partyman poster which is inspired by the The Batman 1989 time period, along with Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman.

I drew inspiration from the Batman Soundtrack album, music videos and concerts along with various playing card designs for this years tribute piece.

All hail the new king in town

Young and old, gather ’round (yeah)

Black and white, red and green (yeah, funky)

The funkiest man you’ve ever seen

Tell you what his name

Partyman, Partyman

Rock a party like nobody

Happy 65th Birthday Prince!

LAST TRADITIONAL PAINTING STAGE FOR THIS DARTH MAUL PIECE

All finished up with the traditional painting process on this Darth Maul piece. Next up, scanning and painting in the background digitally.

On this last painting stage I started by outlining the pants, boot areas and the bottom of the robes. Next, I painted the left pants and boot areas. Then, I moved on to painting the right pants and boot areas. From there, I outlined the dual lightsaber and then painted silver areas slowly building up the metallic feel. Lastly, I painted the white glow areas and then painted in the red outer glow to finish this painting stage.

MERRY FREAKIN CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho

Earthlings are so weird

I don’t know what Christmas is

But Christmas time is here

Out on the 3rd planet

Close to the sun

There’s a special celebration

And sounds quite fun

A golly fellow brings

Toys to everyone

On a holiday they call

Christmas

I am Groot

He says….

Merry Freakin Christmas!

Only he didn’t use freakin

I hope you all have an amazing time celebrating the holiday season with your loved ones!

Merry Freakin Christmas!

JUST ABOUT DONE WITH THIS DARTH MAUL PIECE

Just about done with the traditional painting process on this Darth Maul piece. Here’s a glimpse of the painting progress made this  time around.

I started this painting process by painting the lower left bottom robe area and then moved on to the next layer of the robe. With those areas finished, I moved second from the top layer. From there, I did the same process to the right side robes. Lastly, I painted the top center robe area. One of my favorite parts is the textures you can get from the illustration board by slowly building up the paint.

DARTH MAUL PAINTING IS TAKING SHAPE

Here’s a look at the recent painting progress I’ve been able to make so far on this Darth Maul piece. I started this painting process by outlining the right side of the cloak and the glove. Next, I moved on to painting the front robe area and then moved on to painting the shoulder and arm area. With those areas finished, I moved on to painting the glove which completes this painting process.

DARTH MAUL PAINTING PROCESS HAS BEGUN

Here’s a look at the painting progress I’ve made so far on this Darth Maul piece.
I started this painting process by starting on the face first. I painted in all the red sections first and then painted the black face markings. Next, I painted the neck area, then moved onto the hood and robe. Lastly, I painted the glove to finish up the process. The technique used to render the hood, robe, and glove is dry brush. I used Matte Black to paint those areas.

DARTH MAUL PENCILS SNEAK PEAK

Here’s a little glimpse at what’s currently on the drawing table. I finished up the full body pencils on Cason Flannel Gray Art Board that cut down to 11×17. Next up, the painting process begins.
