Here’s a look at the recent painting progress I’ve been able to make so far on this Darth Maul piece. I started this painting process by outlining the right side of the cloak and the glove. Next, I moved on to painting the front robe area and then moved on to painting the shoulder and arm area. With those areas finished, I moved on to painting the glove which completes this painting process.

I started this painting process by starting on the face first. I painted in all the red sections first and then painted the black face markings. Next, I painted the neck area, then moved onto the hood and robe. Lastly, I painted the glove to finish up the process. The technique used to render the hood, robe, and glove is dry brush. I used Matte Black to paint those areas.
Here’s a little glimpse at what’s currently on the drawing table. I finished up the full body pencils on Cason Flannel Gray Art Board that cut down to 11×17. Next up, the painting process begins.
For this years donation piece for @extralife4kids a program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals featuring Daimyo Boba Fett from Tamashii Nations Meisho Movie Realization Series, I wanted to create an 18×24 comic book inspired poster. While designing the final comic book cover poster art, I ended coming up with two different version that I liked. One is a classic version and one is a more modern version. I can’t decide which one I like better, so I asked my Instagram community to choose which design they liked the best. Poster A received 40% of the votes and Poster B received 60% of the votes.

Next up scanning and digitally painting the background. Then adding in graphics to complete this years 18×24 poster.
This last stage, I started by painting the left fingers glove area and then after that the top armor. With the glove finished, I move on to painting the sword. I painted the top area first and then painted the the handle. Lastly, I painted the guard area of the sword to complete this stage.

For this painting stage, I started on the right gauntlet maroon color first. With that section finished, then I moved on to painting the rope areas along with the gold and silver areas of the gauntlet. Next, I moved on to paint the rifle. I stared painting the metallic areas first and then moved to the wood areas. Lastly, I painted the orange and black glove areas to finish this painting process.

On this stage, I started by painting the front groin armor area first. Next, I moved on to painting the silver areas of the blaster holster and then moved down to the leather section. From there, I moved to painting the blaster metallic sections and then the wooden handle. Lastly, I painted the knee armor and the boots to finish this stage.

I began this painting stage by starting with the left side gauntlet. Painted in the all maroon sections first and then painted in the silver areas. Next, I moved on to painting the gold ammo sections. With the those areas done, I painted in the ammo pouches slowly building up the brown leather texture. From there, I painted the front of the belt and the side pouches. Lastly, I painted in the green rope section of the belt and then the gi paints to finish this painting stage.

Made a little more progress on this year’s donation piece for @extralife4kids a program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals featuring Daimyo Boba Fett’s look from Tamashii Nations Meisho Movie Realization Series.
I started this painting stage by painting the black cloth area. Once that area was finished I moved onto painting the black armor and silver brackets. from thee I moved onto painting the green chest armor areas. With those areas all finished up, I moved on to painting the left side shoulder armor areas. I used lots of dry brush to get achieve the tones and shadows. From there I moved onto painting the right side shoulder armor area using the same technique as the left side. Lastly, I painted in the logo on the chest armor to complete this painting stage.
